Open letter to Gaza settlers
Published in Ariga, Aug. 29, 2005
"Dear" (in the most literal sense) Settlers, At long last it must be
spelled out, without hypocritical pity, without "if" and "but."
We have paid billions of shekels in order to settle you in the Gaza
Strip. We have paid billions to keep you there, and most of you have
lived there at our expense. We paid billions to defend you, and dozens
of soldiers, male and female, lost their lives doing this. Now we are
paying billions (Eight? Ten? Twelve?) to get you out of there and pay
you generous compensation.
Cutting Avnery's usual business of drivel short, let's deal in real
Kfar Darom, population 400, religious. "Alei Katif" produce factory.
Morag, 200, religious, agricultural coop.
Clip

Doc Remington: "palisimians".

Who is paying for this virulent Jewish racism, displayed for all to
see as if you were born with a right to it, as if you were born with a
sneer and silver epithet on the tip of the tongue? Who bought and paid
for the *luxury* of declaring this racism from the mountain top with
such coarse smugness? I'll tell you.

Averny again:

"And please remember: the bill is not being paid by "the State," an
anonymous body, but by me and the Israeli [and American] readers of
this column, out of our own pockets"

And not just out of our pockets, my friend. Not just the
$150,000,000,000 we've simply gifted to Israeli racists. Not just the
$500,000,000,000 we didn't have which we've nevertheless squandered on
a war we didn't need, a war demanded by our tiny, arrogant client
whose agents have paralysed our Congress. Not just the endless,
humiliating diplomatic support with the whole world at the same time
watching those same racists perpetrating pogroms over 60 years. No,
not just these things, these prices. Included are far more blood and
suffering than has been endured by the Israeli people since their "War
of Independence" in 1947-48, a war primarily against Palestinian
civilians, 750,000 of them, with military aspects which were
peripheral and a foregone conclusion. (Pappe, The Ethnic Cleansing of
Palestine)

So who's paying? That's obvious. A better question is why? Perhaps the
neozionists here can explain to us just how it is that the United
States has incurred a debt of this proportion, moral or otherwise, to
a people whose leaders in any event are racists, when at the same time
we were struggling against racism in our own country? What blinded us?
What made us think that human rights is a selective principle to be
applied here and there when it suits us, or when it suits an "ally"?
That blindness has resulted in a disaster for American policy and for
the American people. And it's a disaster which is just beginning, one
with obscure parameters.

When Herzel published "The Jewish State," advocating a Jewish state in
Palestine, there was no unanimity in Jewish circles. Two Rabbis were
sent to Palestine to report on conditions there. They wired their
report: "The bride is beautiful but she is married to another man."
The warning went unheeded. Professor Shlaim writes: "In its formative
phase, under the direction of Herzl, the Zionist
movement.....displayed two features that were to be of fundamental and
enduring importance in its subsequent history: the nonrecognition of a
Palestinian national entity, and the quest for an alliance with a
great power external to the Middle East. Bypassing the Palestinians
was the trend in Zionist policy from the First Zionist Congress
onward." ("Iron Wall," p. 5)

As you told you before, if you don't like it don't pay. Kick
your old allies, and see what the results will be.

You had a brave president, would understood why kicking
your allies was a great policy. (Jimmy Carter policy
in 1979 was pretty clear "Fuck the Shah".) I don't know
why you did not re-elect that great president, but
it is your business, not mine.

I'll tell you what the result will be: you'll get out the West Bank
and the Golan in a flash. You'll strike the deal that only our
uncritical support gives you the luxury of avoiding as we speak.
You'll give up on the Iron Wall doctrine of Jabotinsky and Ben-Gurion
and settle the matter.

We don't need an amoral Israeli "ally" who attacks our ships in the
Med., who sends spies against us over and over again, who corrupts
both our legislature and our executive, whose policies estrange us
from the entire Muslim world to say nothing of Europe and the rest of
the world, whose lobbyists even engage in espionage and who refuses to
recognize our fundamental interests. We don't need an ally who is an
obvious foreign policy and military liability, both in terms of
instigating wars and the failure to fight them. One certainly doesn't
want to "kick" a loyal old ally but Israel is so arrogant as to
actually be an adversary, a hostile power. And I don't in any event
suggest that she be kicked. I suggest that she be given a choice
between American support and protection into the future and
continuation of the policy best put in the words of Ben-Gurion:
"....only after total despair on the part of the Arabs, despair that
will come not only from the failure of the disturbances and the
attempt at rebellion, but also as a consequence of our growth in the
country, may the Arabs possibly acquiesce in a Jewish Eretz
Israel." (June 9, 1936) It is a humiliation to see America smeared by
association with that policy and you know that it has not changed one
scintilla since 1936.

You're damned right it's our business and as your racist and
troglodytic political class continue to interfere in our domestic
affairs the American people are coming to understand what's happened
to them on the altar of our grasping "ally" Israel. A huge backlash is
growinig by the day. And I'll venture a more particular prediction. If
we attack Iran the consequences will presage the end of the
relationship on terms you will neither like nor be able to control. At
least as to the latter it will be a time of celebration for America.

don't want or need anymore Nathan Forests and George Gordons. You are a
relic of the past and you and your lies about Jews and Israel will never
gain any traction in the United States.

You and your type is on par with the likes of Louis Farrakhan and David
Duke. You are a sick old man and want the U.S. to follow in Hitlers and Now
Ahmadinejads footsteps. Well klucker boy, it ain't gonna happen. You will
continue to be a wart on Americas butt, and thankfully there is a negligible
amount of "thinkers" like you in America

One in every eight children will not reach the age of five in Iraq.

There are no oxygen masks, no medicines for such basic afflictions as
diarrhea. There are no doctors in Iraq because the security situation under
occupation is such that ALL doctors have been targeted by militia, foreign
terrorists and the US military.

"According to the report, Iraq's child mortality rate has increased by
a staggering 150 percent since 1990. Some 122,000 Iraqi children died in
2005 before reaching their fifth birthday. More than half of these deaths
were among newborn babies in the first month of life," says a report
published by the US-based SAVE THE CHILDREN Organization.

Consider Iraq's future when you weigh the above statistics to the fact
that 60 percent of Iraq's population is comprised of children.

The plight of Iraq's children began well before the March 2003
invasion. If you raise your head a tad and look at the intro to this blog,
you will see Albright's famous statements that killing half a million Iraqi
children is insignificant when compared to the zealous pursuit of foreign
policy.

That was more than 10 years ago and today the statement still holds
true.

Iraq's children not only suffer from malnutrition but have also
exhibited severe trauma-based disorders because of the daily violence that
has gripped the country since the great war of liberation and democracy.

During the war of liberation, thousands of Iraqi children were killed,
heads severed, limbs amputated, disfigured, burned thanks to the precision
bombing of US forces.

"Roland Huguenin-Benjamin, a spokesman for the International Committee
of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iraq, describes what happened in Hilla as "a
horror, dozens of severed bodies and scattered limbs". Initially, Murtada
Abbas, the director of Hilla hospital, was questioned about the bombing only
by Iraqi journalists - and only Arab cameramen working for Reuters and
Associated Press were allowed on site. What they filmed is horror itself -
the first images shot by Western news agencies of what is also happening on
the Iraqi frontlines: babies cut in half, amputated limbs, kids with their
faces a web of deep cuts caused by American shellfire and cluster bombs.
Nobody in the West will ever see these images because they were censored by
editors in Baghdad: only a "soft" version made it to worldwide TV
distribution," reported ASIA TIMES in April 2003.

See my previous post on war propaganda.

Today throughout Iraq, children play in raw sewage. Water is cut and
many families are forced to draw polluted and tainted well water. So
desperate is the situation that this video from YouTube highlights how clean
water is becoming a commodity as valuable as gold in some Iraqi districts.

There is nothing but cruelty in the asinine banter and laughter of the
US soldier who taunts Iraq's children this way. What have they done other
than be born Iraqi - once again, a stark reminder of how war propaganda
renders the Iraqi person inhuman.

Notice the street, it is strewn with garbage and sewage.

This is the new Iraq, this is the Iraq of the liberator, and this is
the face of the liberator which some Iraqis are begging to remain in Iraq
and protect the people.

Dahr Jamail, who has written extensively about Iraq, filed this report
from there several months ago:

Social researcher Nuha Khalil from the Iraqi Institute for Childhood
Development in Baghdad told IPS that young girls are now expressing their
repressed sadness often by playing the role of a mother who takes care of
her small daughter.

"Looking around, they only see gatherings of mourning ladies who lost
their beloved ones," said Khalil. "Our job of comforting these little girls
and remedying the damage within them is next to impossible."

More can be found here, but I also thought these to be pertinent:

"Children are the most affected by the tragic events," Dr. Khalil
al-Kubaissi, a psychotherapist in Fallujah told IPS. "Their fragile
personalities cannot face the loss of a parent or the family house along
with all the horror that surrounds them. The result is catastrophic, and
Iraqi children are in serious danger of lapsing into loneliness or
violence."

The difficulties of children have become particularly noticeable this
year. "The only things they have on their minds are guns, bullets, death and
a fear of the U.S. occupation," Maruan Abdullah, spokesman for the
Association of Psychologists of Iraq told reporters at the launch of a study
in February this year.

The report warned that "children in Iraq are seriously suffering
psychologically with all the insecurity, especially with the fear of
kidnapping and explosions."

The literature on Iraq's debilitated and destroyed children is
overwhelming and heartbreaking. An article in the Christian Science Monitor
in August 2004 said:

A report run on the German TV program Report Mainz (video) in July on
the same topic included an interview with US Sgt. Samuel Provance. Sgt.
Provance was one of the original whistleblowers who said US troops were
abusing prisoners at Abu Ghraib. Provance has since been transferred to
Germany. He says he was ordered by his superiors not to talk to the media
any more. In May, Provance said he was told by Army officials that he may be
prosecuted because his statements were " not in the national interest."

Provance, however, did talk to the German TV crew about the treatment
of children at Abu Ghraib. He alleges that children were sometimes abused in
order to force their parents to give information to coalition authorities.
Provance spoke about one incident in which he says he witnessed this
happening with a 16 year-old boy.

He was full of fear, very alone. He had the thinnest little arms that
I have ever seen. His whole body shook. His wrists were so thin that we
could not put handcuffs on him. As soon as I saw him for the first time and
led him to the interrogation, I felt sorry for him. The interrogation
specialists doused him with water and put him in a truck. Then they drove
with him throughout the night, and at that time it was very, very cold. Then
they smeared him with mud and showed him to his likewise imprisoned father.
With him [the father] they had tried out other interrogation methods. But
they had not succeeded in making him talk. The interrogation specialists
told me that after the father had seen his son in that condition, it broke
his heart. He wept and promised to tell them what they wanted to know.

Finally, a word to other Iraqi bloggers. Write, speak out - raise
awareness of the horror chamber your country has become. Languishing in
Amman or Los Angeles or writing petitions does not absolve you of the
terrible burden you are entrusted with as English-speaking Iraqis.

There are those who come to this blog or email me calling me a
Baathist and an Al-Qaeda sympathizer. I have no love for either. I have
never been either.

There are others who call me a Nazi because I speak the truth no one
wants to. I write of the conditions in my country because the ONLY way
things can improve is when the world community wake up, when conscientious
Americans wake up, when beguiled Iraqis wake up and are made aware of the
problems, mistakes and crimes committed in Iraq.

Only when they understand the depth of the problem can they begin to
find solutions.

Wrong again, dip shit. The majority of Americans are pretty much
clueless as to what is REALLY going on, and cunts like you probably
applaud AIPAC for their job of intimidating, bribing, bullying,
spying, such that it stays that way.

MOst Americans have no clue how much of their money goes to Israel,
and when asked about how aid should be distributed, say it should be
50-50, Israelis and Palestinians.

Just because the politicians say something, doesn't mean it represents
the majority of their constituents. You tiny little string of shit

The US cannot allow Israel to continue its course to take out Iranian
Nuclear facilities; and certainly cannot allow our military to do the
job for them. Either way, the outcome would be disastrous for
Americans, and for other Arab Countries in the region.

The only possible beneficiary of a strike on Iran would be the
paranoid state of Israel, by destabilise/eliminating another one of
its military adversaries. Interestingly, Big Oil is NOT in favour of
this war, in fact, the only lobby pushing for it is the Israeli one,
which happens to own our government at present.

Israel has been a costly menace for decades, and has always had
bellicose, paranoid, unpredictable leaders, but the current one is a
numbskull to boot. The majority of the world is well-informed as to
the true reasons why Saddam was taken out and why Iran and Syria are
being targeted with similar pre-emptive threats. these times are
particularly dangerous to America's well-being. We've never been as
vulnerable as we are now, due to deteriorated diplomatic relationships
abroad, caused mostly by a sick alliance with Israel, and a clueless,
misinformed public. Our administration, all of Congress and the
people's major conduits for information are controlled and
puppettered by Israel-firsters in important positions and an
aggressive, wealthy foreign agent in the guise of a lobby. Senator
McCain used a Beach Boy's song to send his message that the US was on
the same course as Israel.

It isn't funny.

Should Israel take out only just the Esfahannuclear facility, the
pentagon has shown that three million people would be killed by
radiation within two weeks and thirty five million people in
afghanistan, pakistan and India would be exposed to increasing levels
of cancer-causing radiation (James Petras, 2007).

There would be uprisings all over the middle east. A prolonged war
pitting seventy million unified iranian nationals and millions of
muslims fromallover against an increasingly isolated US (reluctance on
the part of our european allies is obviously on rise when it comes to
joining bloody AMerican adventures). The "iraqization" strategy would
disintegrate as Shia armada forces would align with their Iranian
neighbours (Petras).

Oil prices would skyrocket, devastating our already tenuous economy.

James Petras asserts that "Iran's challenge to Israel is primarily
political, and does not lie in its non-existent nuclear potential".

We need to think about this long and hard, and do whatever is possible
to illuminate this threat in the minds of others. We can't depend on
our elected politicians, though it certainly doesn't hurt to encourage
people to mail by the bushel personal letters to these AIPAC-obedient,
self-serving, toadies your complete disapproval with his/her actions;
that they do not reflect their constituency.

Do not flinch at the accusation of "anti-semitism"; a filthy and
cowardly ploy to stifle ANY criticism of Israel. .As my bumper sticker
reads: Criticism of Israel is NOT a hate crime. If you know in your
heart that you are NOTsome raving bigot, some NeoNazi bent on hatred
of an ethnic group, but, rather are concerned that another state has
taken control of your country's decision makers, and that their action
could jeopardise the future for your kids and their kids, then you
have nothing to fear. Swat the accusation like a harmless shitfly.

of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iraq, describes what happened in Hilla as "a
horror, dozens of severed bodies and scattered limbs".

Pretty funny comment from Caz the Spaz, who never read anything Ben-

"Deborah's"filthylittlebigpig" comment aboutSharptonis
hard to interpret as anything but racist. She is invited to try. She
should not have said it. It was very coarse and reflects poorly on the
quality of her upbringing. Her mother would be horrified."

I've asked him to post EXACTLY where I said that, as he claims. Since
he has cojones, I don't expect a response.

BTW, Caz seems fixated on mothers, doesn't he? A result of not having

We don't need an amoral Israeli "ally"
What we don't need are senile pompous yentas like ole Caz, who
imagines he can speak to history and foreign policy merely because
he's read a few Amazon.com customer comments.

Why not? Caz's beloved Jimmy did.

"....only after total despair on the part of the Arabs, despair that
will come not only from the failure of the disturbances and the
attempt at rebellion, but also as a consequence of our growth in the
country, may the Arabs possibly acquiesce in a Jewish Eretz
Israel." (June 9, 1936)
A partial out-of-context quote from David Ben-Gurion. Full quote from
brief article about Shlaim (naturally, Caz won't bother to read
book):
"A comprehensive agreement is undoubtedly out of the question now. For
only after total despair on the part of the Arabs, despair that will
come not only from the failure of the disturbances and the attempt at
rebellion, but also as a consequence of our growth in the country, may
the Arabs possibly acquiesce in a Jewish Eretz Israel."
David Ben-Gurion, My Talks with Arab Leaders (Jerusalem, 1972), p 80:
Full sentence, omitted by Caz:

The context was the beginning of the Arab riots of 1936, which lasted
until mid-1939 and claimed thousands of casualties and millions of
pounds in damages. Ben-Gurion was anxious for the fulfillment of the
Mandate articles, and the creation of a Jewish state in which there
would be no artificial restrictions imposed on Jewish immgration, for
the purposes of saving Jews from Hitler.

It is a humiliation to see America smeared by
association with that policy
It was solely a British matter and had nothing to do with America. It
was never policy; it caused a split in Mapai, with the majority of
Mapai leaders opposing Ben-Gurion; it was eventually abandoned when
the White Paper made it moot; and it was certainly not policy during
WWII, when the Yishuv was behind the Alies, and the Palestinian Arab
fought for the Nazis.

As you told you before, if you don't like it don't pay. Kick
